REVIEWS OF TOWN AND COUNTRY INN

  • Every ski/snowboard season, my sister and I along with friends and family make our annual trip up north, and we stay at the T & C. We have been your guests since we were in grade school, and both of us are now in our mid 30's. We would never think of staying anywhere else when visiting the White Mountains. Your rooms are large and cozy and it's always nice to take advantage of your pool and jacuzzi after a long day of skiing. It's also convenient that once your at the T & C, you don't need to drive and find a great meal or a drink because your restaurant has everything a hungry skier could want. These days, it's very expensive to bring a family skiing, yet somehow you have managed to keep it affordable for families to play in the snow with your package deals. We wanted to thank you for all the wonderful memories, and we look forward to continuing to make the Town & Country part of our family history.

  • Grace and elegance, without exorbitant prices--certainly a delicate balance to achieve. And yet the Labnon family, drawing from over 50 years' experience, manage to pull it off seamlessly. The entire establishment is permeated with the proprietors' spirit of friendly professionalism. Every employee--from front desk attendants to dining room waitstaff to members of the maintenance crew--is courteous and helpful. The dining room is an aesthetic delight. Giant picture windows look out on immaculate grounds; just across scenic route 2 is an 18-hole golf course, which also provides excellent cross-country skiing during the winter. (A note for golfers: the T&C; offers a variety of attractive and affordable golf packages.) The view from the dining room showcases the North Country's four seasons: dazzling lawns and fairways, snow-capped mountains, and of course breathtaking foliage. The menu features succulent prime rib and hearty Captain's platters, as well as shrimp, scallop, and haddock dinners--all of which include a free Dessert of the Day. Head chef Keith Couture is renowned throughout the North Country and beyond. The billboard that adorns the sprawling front lawn currently reads: "Try us. We only look expensive." I can, without hesitation, vouch for the veracity of that statement.

We recently had our wedding reception at the Town and Country Inn. Everything was perfect. The food was delicious, the function room was beautiful and the staff was very accomodating. Our guests were thrilled with the amenities. Thank you!

Superb. I've been staying in this hotel for years. They had me after my first visit. Friendly staff and even friendlier owners (if you can believe that!!!). I can't recommend this place enough. Can't wait 'till my next visit. Oh, one last thing... You must try their restaurant. By far the best place to eat in and around town. :-)

Just a short note to thank you and your staff for an excellent job at Andrew's wedding. Beginning with the hors d'Oeuvres, it was a feast fit for a king! Thank you also for the excellent job at the Androscoggin Valley Retired Educators luncheon/meeting. It is always pleasure to see you.

We visited the T&C; for a great visit. Our dinner at the restaurant was wonderful. Our server had been there for many years ( I think 40+!) and just a treat. My husband loved the fresh baked loaf of bread. He had the beef barley soup and just had to have another cup. It was homemade and the best he's ever had. I had the Caesar salad. the appetizer of spinach and artichoke dip was delicious. the entrees of fish and chips and my maple glazed pork chops (2) were awesome. We were too stuffed for dessert, but once our server mentioned homemade strawberry shortcake, my husband was in!! it was again, awesome! We were so delighted with everything we had and the service.

I was surprised at the low rates offered here. The room was decent enough to sleep in. They have a very nice indoor pool & hot tub. There's also a game room that the kids enjoyed. Best part was that it only cost $6 per dog per night. It was the best rate around. Only 30 minutes to either Storyland or Santa's Village. Family run, very friendly desk. would stay here again if we had the dogs.

The Labnon family is doing a great job. Nicely arranged rooms with inside aisle connecting to facilities, e.g. a nice pool area. Nice restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Great location as a base for exploring the White Mountains. Would have stayed here for more than the one night our travel plans permitted!

This was the perfect place for my son and I to stay. I wanted to keep the hotel price reasonable and this was exactly what I was looking for. It is near the mountain that we planned to ski. The pool was a big attraction in February! The management/owners had wonderful customer service skills. the place was full to capacity but still enjoyable.

We have been enjoying the Resort's facilities and Restaurant for several year now and hope to continue for many more. On our last trip up we enjoyed the same level of friendly and competant service as usual. This time when we left , we inadvertantly left a couple of items in the roocalled the Resort and by the next day , they had found and sent the items to me. Now, That's service! Thanks.

Wonderful place to stay. We have been staying here for years, always excellent. They make us feel like family. Staff goes above and beyond to help you with whatever you need. Food is Great! Look forward our trip to T&C.; We didn't get to go last year, and they were so nice, they called to see if we were okay. Now that is family. Thank you T&C; family.

We have stayed here many years for as long as 5 days at a time in all seasons. Usually very good accommodations and great food.Their prices are much fairer than most hotels in New England. Will be staying there many more times in the future I am sure!

Always loved this place

We have 2 small boys and a 3month old baby. Dinner at the restaurant was great, we ordered lots of good appt. and delicious meals! The boys (and Dad) were very excited about the pool and the arcade room. The price of the room was amazing-we will definately return. The only set back was no room service for breakfast-with three small kids we wanted to eat in. We called to order take out and the lady who answered the phone said she was too busy and would find someone to call us back - they never did. :( Overall the hotel was great - the rooms were spacious and clean. We look forward to coming back! Thanks.

This was the best surprise that we could have hoped for. Having stayed in the White Mountains over 16 years we came across your website and decided to take a chance. We will be back!

If you plan to go for a couple of days, we can highly recommend the Meal Package. The food & the service was excellent. The grounds are beautiful.

Rating: Excellent

Just want to thank Scott, Randy and your staff for the great service that we had for our son's wedding. Matt and his bride Cindy were given the wedding of their dreams and you made it all possible!! The food was fantastic, and you made all of the planning very easy! Thanks again!! We would recommend the T&C; to anyone planning a wedding!!

I am a single dad with five children, four of which are quadruplets. We have been going to T&C; for over 5 years now and honestly, we wouldn't stay anywhere else. The accomodations are outstanding and the value is unmatched! But what makes the difference for us is, they make us feel right at home. The staff is warm, friendly and helpful. It starts at the top with outstanding ownership and filters down throught the entire staff. The dining room is fantastic. In five years the kids and I have never experienced a bad meal. To the point of when we stay and go to Santa's Village or Storyland (also great packages available through T&C;) the kids ask to go back to the hotel for dinner and not stay out. Our last visit we saw some new upgrades that were yet another plus on top of this already great value! A new hot tub in the indoor pool area and our room had a small kitchen set up complete with fridge, microwave, sink, dishes and things that could make a longer stay even easier for a family. We will be back again and again and the greatest thing is when your kids say "they will take their kids there someday". That's when you know you have a hit. Thanks T&C; !!!

Dear Labnon Family: It has been over a month since our New England vacation. We stayed in your inn for nine nights (2/3 of our vacation). For most of that time, my husband was hiking on the Appalachian Trail while I comfortably settled into your inn. We were so impressed by the services your inn offered. The meals were incredible and your staff was very kind. We will definitely return next year. I already know what I want for dinner. The Stone's Georgia

Just wanted to thank your establishment for another great week-end. My husband and I stayed their on the 14th and 15th of July to celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. I am not sure if it was Randy or Scott who checked us in but the friendliness was just as it was a month earlier when we booked a room as our grandson was playing baseball in Berlin. The room was very clean, as was the pool and hot tub which I was in for over two hours. We had the golf package and my husband was able to enjoy a round of golf in the morning. I don't think you can beat the food, even at the finest restaurants, and the waitresses and waiters were excellent. I guess what I really want to say is: WE'LL BE BACK.

I wish there was a better rating then "excellent". My family LOVES Town and Country Inn & Resort. We stayed last year and we just booked for a longer vacation this year. The pool and game room are perfect for my two young daughters. The restaurant is top notch! Loved every bite to eat we had there. Location is perfect for all of the attractions we visit. We can't wait for our August stay with you this year.

My family for the past three years has a new tradition. We go to the Santa's Village Christmas Time. We have a most wonderful time. Then we stay at your hotel. The staff are great, rooms fit our needs perfect and food is so GOOD. My husband and I have been staying with you for years, so to share now with our family is awesome. Thank you for all your Good things!! We will keep coming back for sure!!

To the Labnon Family, I have been coming to the T and C since I was a child. My Dad, Bill Swett, worked with your founder "Navy" and we had always felt like family when our family came to T and C. My husband and I have on numerous occasions stayed with you and enjoyed your lovely dining room. We have stayed and enjoyed your lounge and entertainment.

We always leave with a smile and it warms my heart with memories each time I am there. Thank you for keeping tradition at the T and C.

What a find this place is. We were there in June, 2013. The Inn is situated in a lovely setting across from a golf course which you look out to in the dining room. The rooms are very clean, up to date and very comfortable. We would stay there again in a heartbeat... Food in the dining room was very good. What to say about the staff: Everyone was super!!! My husband became sick and they came to our room and called EMS for us and stayed until they knew my husband was ok. We would like to thank Jackie, Jaylan and Krystal for going out of their way to help us. They deserve very special thanks and more for everything they did for us. We just can't say enough about their hospitality. We felt like we have known them for a long time. An excellent rating for Town & Country, in Gorham, N.H. and their staff is not high enough. If you are traveling in the area definitely stay here. Thanks to all of you, even though my husband was sick, for making our stay special.

To be or not to be.....is no longer the question........rather.......one should ask......why buy a condo in the white mountains when you can stay here.......the chef will cook your trout if you are lucky enough to catch one ......the waitresses might take your 1 year old on a tour of the desert cooler in the kitchen while you chug a second frosty new castle unencumbered ........ the beds are freshly made and cozy......rooms are clean..... the showers steamy hot......your kids are safe and will probably marry someone they met in the pool 15 years hence......randy rocks on keys ...sax and flute like jethro tull on the weekends........and scotty......well scotty knows everyone in the valley and can make anything happen with a phone call....if you get my drift captn...... and on and on......go ahead and look elsewhere......you ll be wasting your time....this was our second home the first time we walked through the front doors and uncle bob said....... welcome friends......did you hear the one about the penguin.......thirty years later and now my kids are bringing thier kids here......and there are thousands of families just like mine with similar stories.......do yourself a favor.....wait on the condo.......bring your family and try this place.....there is no place like home?..... i am not so sure about that any more......this is our other home........and might be yours too.....love Jimmy

We started coming to T&C; to ski Wildcat about 12 years ago when the kids were young. This was a very affordable vacation for a family with 4 kids, especially with some of the ski and stay packages we took advantage of over the years. The kids always loved the pool and arcade area after a day on the slopes and going to the "fancy" restaurant for breakfast and dinner each day was a huge treat for them. Over the course of the years, our little family trip has grown to a group of about 24 friends and family members. It's a tradition that we look forward to every winter. The best part is everyone meeting back at the pool after being out and about all day. We bring our own snacks and coolers down to the pool to unwind and have some laughs before getting ready for dinner. The restaurant has great food and the dining room staff always does a great job accommodating our large party. Entertainment and cocktails in the lounge after dinner is always fun! Love this place!

We booked a room at the T&C; for 9/2/17 and upgraded to the Weekender Package when we arrived which included dinner and breakfast. Both meals were delicious. One thing that really impressed us was that because it was a holiday weekend the place was very busy and Scott and Randy Labnon were serving meals, running the register, clearing tables, etc. What a great display of leadership, they were doing whatever needed to be done. Thank you once again to all of the Town & Country staff for going above and beyond.

We enjoyed celebrating Thanksgiving at the Town and Country Inn and Resort. My husband, 1 year old daughter, and I spent 2 nights here. The room was clean and had all the amenities we could have asked for. The customer service was AWESOME! From the housekeeping staff, to the restaurant/staff manager, to the front desk staff/manager everyone was kind and went above and beyond to be helpful. The food was great both on Thanksgiving and the rest of our stay. We loved the pool and hot tub and the arcade was a nice surprise (it is small but alot of fun). It was in a great location, close to lots of restaurants as well as fast food and not far from the main attractions of the area. If we find ourselves up north again we will definitely stay here. We highly recommend. It is a great deal for the price.

My husband and I have been coming here now for about 20 years and 15 years now with my daughter we come here once a year sometimes twice and we wouldn't even think about staying anywhere else. This is family owned and run and the staff is exceptional it's like coming home. The restaurant is unbelievably good and the atmosphere is incredible. They serve breakfast and dinner and we have never had a bad meal and never in all these years have we ever had a problem. We have had a few little blips but they were corrected immediately and it wasn't anything even major. I can't say enough about this place. Great place to bring the family or to have a romantic getaway. There are tons of things to do very local to here in the summer and winter. I'm constantly recommending them.
